Denver Engagement Session | RJ & Leslie This fabulous couple and I met last weekend to document their engagement. They were looking for classic and artistic imagery. The description of the photographic style they were looking for perfectly describes their personalities. We photographed at Union Station and Lookout Mountain. The wedding will take place in North Carolina this summer.

Tona | Eric The beautiful beautician and electrician, soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Funk, and I met early this week for their engagement photographs. Their candid, fashion-like imagery will give them more wall portraits than any humble person could want.
The two were engaged just a few weeks ago in a small Nebraska town. As they were going out on a hunt, Tona's dad patted her on the back and said "Don't worry; I said yes." She continually was "surprised" as Eric told her she could have the ring if she could hit some game slowly prying open the box and snapping it closed like an alligator circus game.
These two are fabulous. I can't wait for the wedding in June.

This wonderful couple and I met in downtown Omaha to document their engagement. The couple wanted natural and unique photographs. Katie's main request was that the images didn't look like anyone else's. I told her that it would not be a problem- doing things out of the ordinary is my specialty. This beautiful couple will exchange vows in 2012. The wedding is taking place in central Nebraska. Be sure to check back for their wedding photographs. I love these two.
Chelsea | Grant This set of photos feature one of the most unique and one of a kind location's I have used as a backdrop for my photographs. I doubt I will ever document something similar and I bet that no one else will take their photographs at this location either. The images were taken in south central Nebraska near the area where this couple was born and currently resides.
The rustic, desolate, and antiqued location is filled with as much personality and character as the couple. The two will be exchanging vows at their Colorado Destination Wedding taking place at Ten Mile Station next Summer.
Stephanie | Wayne Yet another couple who swears they aren't photogenic. Stephanie, Wayne, and I met last week at Washington Park to document their engagement.
The couple will be wed in Kansas this coming winter.

I'm not sure how to more appropriately introduce this set of images aside from saying, "I love them." This wonderful couple visited my studio on Santa Fe during a First Friday Art Walk in Denver. After looking at one of my fine art couple's portraits, they talked about purchasing the item. Then they realized, "Wouldn't it be great if the portrait was of us?" Last week we met downtown to create unique wall art. These modern, custom, art pieces are my favorite aspect of photographing couples. These images become wonderful gifts and heirlooms to pass through generations. A session like this is a great fit for anniversaries or a special gift for an art lover. I sit here this morning posting the engagement photographs of this beautiful couple and find myself overwhelmed with thankfulness. I am thankful I get to document moments of significance. Relationship is an incredible thing, and though it is everywhere and sometimes appears to be so normal, today especially I am reminded of its greatness.
Geoff and Emily have been together for approximately six years. These images document so much - the way she smiles only at him, the special grasp of hands that only they share. These little details build a lifelong promise that for better or worse, a commitment to be will remain intact for the rest of time.
Relationship is a beautiful gift. Thank you for letting me be a part of capturing and learning from yours.
Chris | Abby I have known Abby for the past couple of years. I remember her telling me about Chris and a long conversation they had during their first few weeks of knowing each other. She told me how he was listening to her and caring about who she really was. I recall responding with this: "You will find a guy like that...keep waiting for someone 'like that' who really cares about your heart." Not long after the conversation in the driveway, trips to the driving range, alpine slide races and nights of dancing, a surprise birthday party brought home a blue diamond ring on Abby's left hand.
These candid engagement images are full of personality, connection, energy and love. These artistic and unique engagement photographs are the type of images I strive to capture as a couple's photographer. I am so thankful to be a part of this with you both.

Sweet Action Ice Cream is one of the first spots Chris and Abby went on a date.
Chris wanted to show off his back-bend kick-over. Though this is a move he hasn't done before, his athleticism shines in any situation.
This little pocket of light near the Museum of Contemporary Art is consistently one of my favorite spots to photograph couples.
"How did they get across the water?" one may wonder.
Chris gets props for this location. The shape and lines are breathtaking.
Scott | Jessie I've never been much for photographing dogs, but after Scott and Jessie's engagement session I discovered my soft spot for interesting animals. The dogs were only a small part of the love story I was privileged to document in this Colorado engagement featuring the beautiful connection of this couple.

Jill | Chris It's engagement sessions like this that make me appreciate life so much. Jill, Chris and I met at Confluence Park on Saturday morning to capture some meaningful photographs one week prior to Chris's deployment to Afghanistan. I could feel time not sit still enough as the two held each other and flourished in the presence of their relationship.
I am so thankful to have been able to document these last bits of quality time the couple has together for a while. I am also fililed with thankfulness for the great sacrifice men like Chris give to serve our county. I hope nothing but the best for you both.
Jamie | Dustin
Jamie, Dustin and I met at Cottonmill Park in Kearney, Nebraska, last Sunday to document their engagement. After about 15 minutes of shooting Dustin said, "I was confused when Jamie brought two outfits for me...I thought we only needed on for the paper." The area was surrounded by trees, paths, a lake and new sprouts of green. The couple's personality fit right in with the location. At one point Jamie said, "This is us."
The wedding will be happening in the booming town of Taylor, Nebraska, this summer. I'm sure it will be quite the party.
I had the privilege of being this lovely couple's photographer downtown Denver. Flagship REI is a great place to photograph husbands and wives that are looking for a little bit of everything. I photograph couples here often, and I am always up for the challenge of finding something new and different. Between the late afternoon sun, bright smiles, stunning eyes and some sweet spots of light, we documented some great natural and artistic images.
This photo shoot was one of my Tamron 90 mm macro lens' first sessions. The prime telephoto lens is looking like it is going be a great portrait lens and a much needed macro addition to my collection of equipment.
Jeff | Angie Upon asking Jeff and Angie what their ideal engagement photos would look like, they responded by giving me these words: color, natural and vintage. Without even looking at them through the lens, I immediately knew these images would be some of my favorites. Every time I have genuine permission for creative freedom within a photo shoot, I am increasingly full of new discoveries. As a couple's photographer I am constantly looking for fresh ideas and this set of images is nothing short of custom art.
As I was keywording the meta data for these photographs, I was using words such as non-traditional, fine art, unique, creative, genuine, emotive, journalistic and vintage. Then I just started coding "I love these pictures." I'm not sure that "I love these pictures" will do much for the search engines, but the experts tell you to tag the photos with something that makes sense. The key words describe everything I am passionate about photographing in a couple.
Angie and Jeff are so great. Angie has a degree in some form of peace...If only I knew that major existed when I was getting my undergrad degree. There are so many unique and wonderful character traits alongside this couple's gentle and intimate relationship. These are some of my favorite engagement photos to date. I am so excited to be a part of their vintage Boulder wedding.
This is a custom made ring with a stone that the couple found themselves. It is engraved with leaves around the band to give it an earthy feel.

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall - each season brings its own personality to an engagement photography session in Denver, Colorado. The engagement photographs in Denver during the different seasons produce distinct moods, but none supersede the other; they simply carry their own unique look. Yet, through the changing backgrounds of the seasons, our engagement photographer packages remain the same. Since it is February, we will focus on the winter season. When we talk about winter engagement photos there is a misconception that they may not be as exciting as the other seasons. But, an aspect we emphasize at Selah Photography is your engagement photography attire. The best thing to do when it is cold outside is to approach our time together with a positive attitude. We love it when the couples have fun together amid the snow. It makes our winter engagement photography session a playful and enjoyable time...and it will actually warm you up too. The colors that remain during the winter months seem to shine more vibrantly. They add interest to the photographs by bringing together two contrasting elements: the cold snow on the ground and the bright, warm sun. These together produce beautiful images.

SELAH (say - la) a Hebrew word found in the Bible meaning to pause, listen and take things in. It's purpose is similar to that of Amen in (Hebrew: "so be it") in that it stresses the truth and importance of the preceding passage. Alternatively, Selah may mean "forever," as it does in some places in the liturgy.
